Avengers: Doomsday has taken over the Netherlands demand race before opening, scoring 10.6 on the SEATmio Film Demand Index (FDI) as of November 4. FDI is a film's share, in percent, of all tickets SEATmio tracks in the country, combining tickets for the last 7 days of screenings with advance tickets for future screenings. The Russo brothers' science fiction adventure, from the directors of Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War, has Unlock advance tickets and now sits ahead of Dutch comedy Wen er maar aan at 9.0.
Wen er maar aan, last week's leader, remains the strongest film already in cinemas. Albert Jan van Rees's comedy stars Maike Meijer as an actress trying to reinvent herself after losing a long-running TV role, and it sold Unlock tickets in the last 7 days. Its FDI fell 3.2 points over the week, leaving it in second place with Unlock advance tickets still on the books; all ticket figures are rounded SEATmio estimates.
The new momentum belongs to horror and thriller titles. Other Mommy, Rob Savage's horror film from the director of The Boogeyman and Host, rose 4.5 points to third place with an FDI of 5.0 after selling Unlock tickets in the last 7 days. Primetime climbed from 26th to fourth, passing Clayface, Verity and other holdovers, as Lance Oppenheim's thriller with Robert Pattinson and Merritt Wever rose 3.7 points to 4.7.
That surge has reshaped the middle of the chart. Clayface dropped from second to sixth as its FDI fell 3.3 points, despite Unlock tickets in the last 7 days. Wicker and Wildwood both held inside the top ten while easing, and Verity slipped from fifth to tenth after falling 1.7 points.
Last weekend, Other Mommy sold the most tickets with Unlock after opening. Wen er maar aan followed with Unlock, down 29% from the previous weekend, while Primetime opened in third place with Unlock. Clayface sold Unlock and fell 30%, and Verity sold Unlock after a 36% weekend decline.
Local production remains a major part of the Dutch market. Wen er maar aan is the clear local leader in second place, while De Club van Sinterklaas film: Paniek in het Pietendorp sits just outside the top ten with an FDI of 2.0 after selling Unlock tickets in the last 7 days. De Tatta's: Daan fell from third to 13th, but the coming local comedy Carnaval is already registering Unlock advance tickets for its November 11 release.
The next 21 days bring several fresh challengers, led by The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping on November 19. Francis Lawrence's return to Panem, from the director of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, already has an FDI of 4.0 and Unlock advance tickets. Opening November 5, Wild Horse Nine has Unlock advance tickets, George Michael: The Faith Tour has Unlock, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has Unlock and Godzilla Minus Zero has Unlock.
