Clayface tops UAE demand with 12.4 as Ramayana presses from second

Jailer 2 sold Unlock tickets last weekend but has slid to third on the current index.

  • Clayface has an FDI of 12.4.
  • The Mongoose rose 5.1 points in a week.
  • Scene has Unlock advance tickets before release.

Clayface is now the film the United Arab Emirates most wants to see, overtaking Jailer 2 since last week and holding first place with an FDI of 12.4 as of November 4. The SEATmio Film Demand Index (FDI) is a film's share, in percent, of all tickets SEATmio tracks in the United Arab Emirates, including tickets for the last 7 days of screenings plus advance tickets for screenings still to come. Clayface sold Unlock tickets in the last 7 days and has Unlock advance tickets, all rounded SEATmio estimates.

James Watkins' Clayface, from the director of Speak No Evil and Eden Lake, is a horror, thriller and science-fiction turn on a Gotham figure whose ruined Hollywood life sends him toward a dangerous treatment and revenge. Tom Rhys Harries, Naomi Ackie, Eddie Marsan, Max Minghella and David Dencik lead the cast. Its lead is not frictionless: the film fell 3.6 points in a week, but Jailer 2 fell harder.

Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is the immediate threat, sitting in second place with an FDI of 12.4 before opening November 5. Nitesh Tiwari's fantasy action adventure, from the director of Dangal and Chhichhore, has Unlock advance tickets behind Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi. The ancient epic follows a prince and princess whose marriage and exile begin a journey of love, duty and destiny.

Jailer 2 has been pushed from first to third, even though it remains one of the market's biggest active sellers with Unlock tickets in the last 7 days. Nelson's action comedy drama, from the director of Jailer and Beast, pairs Rajinikanth with S. J. Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ramya Krishnan and Vidya Balan as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian goes undercover to protect his family. Its FDI fell 24.6 points to 12.0, the sharpest movement among the leaders.

The strongest upward moves are coming from newer releases. The Mongoose rose 5.1 points to 5.2, putting Mark Vanselow's action thriller in fourth place as Liam Neeson plays a falsely accused war hero in a televised chase. Wildwood rose 4.6 points to 4.8, while Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 - AK47 rose 4.5 points to 4.5; Sense and Sensibility also climbed from thirtieth to eighth after passing Street Fighter, Whalefall and others.

Last weekend, from October 30 to November 1, Jailer 2 sold the most tickets with Unlock, though it fell 75% from the previous weekend. Clayface followed with Unlock after falling 35%. New openings then took over the next tier, led by Aadarsha Kutumbam with Unlock, The Mongoose with Unlock and Wildwood with Unlock.

The next wave arrives quickly. Scene opens November 6 with an FDI of 4.8 and Unlock advance tickets, bringing Jithu Madhavan's action comedy thriller about a reopened police case into fifth place before release. Godzilla Minus Zero opens November 5 with an FDI of 1.2 and Unlock advance tickets, while The Cat in the Hat, Disco and Stray Kids World Tour 'RUN IT' LIVE VIEWING trail further back in upcoming demand.
