  • Good Trip remains first with an FDI of 18.0.
  • We Are Born Good rose 14.8 points in a week.
  • Avengers: Doomsday has Unlock advance tickets.

Good Trip remains the film Hong Kong most wants to see, holding first place with an FDI of 18.0 even as We Are Born Good surged from 14th to second. The SEATmio Film Demand Index (FDI) is a film's share, in percent, of all tickets SEATmio tracks in Hong Kong, combining tickets for the last 7 days of screenings with advance tickets for screenings still to come. All ticket counts are rounded SEATmio estimates.

Norris Wong Yee-lam and Wong Hoi’s family comedy Good Trip, from filmmakers whose earlier work includes The Lyricist Wannabe and My Prince Edward, sold Unlock tickets in the last 7 days and has Unlock advance tickets. The Nick Cheung Ka-fai and Chung Suet-ying title follows an art assistant caring for her cancer-stricken father as an errand becomes a journey through Macau and Okinawa. Its lead is secure for now, but demand fell 8.8 points in a week.

The pressure is coming from another local title. We Are Born Good, Yeung Leung Chuen’s drama starring Chung Suet-ying and Yeung Wai-Lun, scored 16.1 after rising 14.8 points in a week. It passed 泥面人, Bird of Paradise and Clayface, among others, since last week, turning a revenge story born from a dining mishap into the week’s clearest mover.

Local production is defining the top of the market. Bird of Paradise, Wu Chui-yi’s family drama about a mother secretly stepping into the world of pole dance, remains fifth with an FDI of 4.4 after selling Unlock tickets in the last 7 days. That gives Hong Kong productions three of the top five positions, even as Bird of Paradise fell 3.6 points and ceded ground to We Are Born Good.

Last weekend, Good Trip sold the most tickets with Unlock, down 19% from the previous weekend. We Are Born Good opened in second place with Unlock, while 泥面人 followed with Unlock after falling 28%. Bird of Paradise took Unlock and Clayface took Unlock, both behind the two local leaders that now dominate demand.

Advance demand also keeps the race open beyond the current frame. Avengers: Doomsday, from Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, the filmmakers behind Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War, is third with an FDI of 7.0 ahead of its December 16 release. Godzilla Minus Zero, from Takashi Yamazaki, the director of Godzilla Minus One, opens November 5 with an FDI of 3.5 and Unlock advance tickets; LA BOLA NEGRA also opens November 5 with Unlock advance tickets and an FDI of 1.5.
