With more than a month until it reaches cinemas, Avengers: Doomsday is already the most wanted film in America. Joe and Anthony Russo's return to the franchise they took to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame has an FDI of 24.2 on the SEATmio Film Demand Index, up 7.0 points in a week, on Unlock advance tickets. The FDI is a film's share of all tickets SEATmio tracks in a country: tickets for the last 7 days of screenings plus advance tickets for screenings still to come. Ticket figures are rounded SEATmio estimates.
The film, which opens on December 18 with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth, sits well clear of the titles now playing. You Can See Everything, from Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, is second with an FDI of 7.6. It led last weekend with Unlock tickets and sold Unlock in the last 7 days, but its weekend fell 40% and its FDI lost 7.7 points.
The closest race is the one behind it. Wildwood, the animated adventure from Travis Knight, the director of Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee, moved from fourth to third with an FDI of 7.2, passing Clayface. It fell just 12% from the previous weekend to Unlock tickets, the best hold among the leaders. Clayface, James Watkins's horror film with Tom Rhys Harries and Naomi Ackie, took Unlock tickets last weekend and dropped 8.2 points to an FDI of 6.4.
The biggest gain outside the leader belongs to The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Francis Lawrence's film, with Joseph Zada, Mckenna Grace and Maya Hawke, rose 6.1 points to an FDI of 6.2 on Unlock advance tickets, 16 days before its November 20 opening. Dune: Part Three, Denis Villeneuve's follow-up to Dune: Part Two, is level with it at 6.2 on Unlock advance tickets. It moved from seventh to sixth, passing Street Fighter and Wicker.
Friday brings the next test. Godzilla Minus Zero, from Takashi Yamazaki, the director of Godzilla Minus One, rose 4.0 points to an FDI of 4.3 and goes into its opening with Unlock advance tickets. Drummer Boy, from Ben and Joel Smallbone, opens the same day with Unlock advance tickets and an FDI of 2.2.
